When Your Mind Says: Do Something

Glow Notes™ Edition: Wellness Wednesday

Sometimes the action feels like the relief

Your lips feel tight.

You reach for your balm.

They still do not feel quite right, so your mind starts working.

Maybe I need more.

Maybe I should exfoliate.

Maybe I should switch products.

Maybe I need to search again.

And suddenly, you are not simply noticing your lips anymore.

You are solving.

Again.

There is something very human happening in that moment.

When we do not know what something means, doing something can make the uncertainty feel smaller.

That does not necessarily mean the action gave us more information.

Sometimes it simply gave us the feeling of movement.

Movement and clarity are not the same thing

This is the distinction I want you to carry with you today:

Taking action can reduce uncertainty without necessarily increasing clarity.

You can feel better because you made a decision and still know very little about what actually helped.

That matters with recurring dry-lip discomfort.

If you apply one thing, switch to another, exfoliate later, change your routine again, and reassess the next morning, you may end up with several possibilities and very little certainty about which one mattered.

The issue is not that lip care is wrong.

The issue is not that changing something is always wrong.

It is simply worth noticing how quickly discomfort can turn into another decision.

What are you actually trying to relieve?

Sometimes there are two experiences happening at once.

There is the physical sensation.

And there is the discomfort of not knowing what to do about it.

Those two experiences can send us looking for the same answer.

Another product.

Another application.

Another search.

Another step.

But they are not always asking the same question.

That is where Slow Wellness becomes practical.

Not by ignoring what you feel.

By creating enough space to notice what you are responding to.

A small pause for today

The next time you notice yourself automatically reaching for another solution, try one small pause.

Ask yourself:

What am I feeling right now?

What do I immediately think it means?

What am I about to do next?

Then choose.

You may still apply your lip care.

You may still decide something needs to change.

The goal is not to force yourself to wait.

The goal is to become present enough to know why you are responding.

That is one way we practice Ritual Over Rush™.

We regulate first, then we respond with intention.

Listen to the full conversation

This is the idea I’m unpacking more deeply in this week’s Wellness Wednesday podcast:

We talk about why action itself can feel reassuring, how repeated lip-care decisions can create more uncertainty instead of less, and the simple shift that can help you separate movement from understanding.

You do not need another ten-step plan.

Sometimes the next useful step is simply noticing the urge before it becomes automatic.

One more thing before you go

If this Glow Note made you think of someone who is always saying:

“Nothing works.”

“I keep trying different things.”

“I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.”

Forward this to her.

And if three women came to mind, send it to all three.

Glow Notes™ grows best when one woman quietly passes something useful to another.

No pressure.

Just a simple way to help another woman feel a little more understood.

Remember, here at AJ’s EO Infusions®, we choose Ritual Over Rush™ because we regulate first, and we believe consistency creates confidence.

Until next time, let’s glow, grow, and thrive together. 💜💛💚
